Attractive pure dark fruit in the nose. Plums, vanilla and wild strawberries. Beautiful bright fruit on the palate. Refined and elegant on the palate with finely knit tannins and good length. Very enjoyable already now, but tannins would benefit from a few more years of aging to soften.

The 2010 is a big, muscular, masculine style of wine with a dense ruby/purple color and loads of blue and black fruits intermixed with vanillin and crushed rock. It is full-bodied and powerful, with lots of tannin. Patience is definitely required, but I suspect this wine will be accessible in 6-7 years, yet capable of lasting a quarter-century or more.

The 2015 Soutard felt a little warm on the nose when I tasted the barrel sample, the inky black fruit smudged by the alcohol. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannin, fleshy and harmonious in the mouth, the acidity perhaps lower than its peers with attractive strawberry and candied orange peel notes surfacing on the finish. I was expecting more from this estate, although let's see if it achieves more composure once in bottle. The élevage will have to be carefully handled.
Chateau Soutard（蘇塔酒莊）位於法國波爾多右岸的 Saint-Emilion（聖埃美隆）產區歷史最悠久的酒莊之一，在2012年新出爐的聖埃美隆評級中仍被評為Grand Cru Classe（列級酒莊）。酒莊的歷史可追溯至1513年，當時這裡還是一片農場。1699年，時任 Saint-Emilion地方法官的 Jean Couture 買下這片土地，其女兒 Maria于1741年在此地建起了酒莊。Couture 家族的後輩們潛心研究葡萄種植技術，使Chateau Soutard 成為當地首批採用成行方式種植葡萄樹的酒莊。到了19世紀，ChateauSoutard 轉手到了 Jean Lavau 手中，這位元 Saint-Emilion地區的大地主讓酒莊聲名鵲起。然後在1919年移交給了 Micheldes Ligneris ，後者的後代經營該物業將近一個世紀。

酒莊的葡萄園地處聖埃美隆石灰岩高地腹地，占地30公頃，土壤類型為石灰岩、黏土和沙土。園內種有63%的 Merlot、28% 的 Cabernet Franc 、7% 的 Cabernet Sauvignon 和2%的 Malbec，葡萄樹的平均樹齡為30年，種植密度為每公頃8,000株。酒莊延續傳統的葡萄種植技術，尊重葡萄園的自然風土，不對葡萄樹進行過多的人工干擾。例如，酒莊會對葡萄樹進行提前剪枝，從而簡化Green Harvest 的步驟，避免給葡萄樹造成額外壓力。
葡萄成熟後，由工人手工採摘下來送至冷藏室，次日再運至酒窖。在酒窖內，葡萄會經震動篩選和去梗，以挑選出品質最佳的釀酒葡萄。之後，葡萄後會被放入小型容器中，然後經升降軌道運至不銹鋼罐和橡木桶中，進行為期5天左右的低溫浸漬和10天左右的酒精發酵。Malolactic Fermentation 部分在不銹鋼罐裡進行，其餘部分在橡木桶中進行。發酵完成的酒液會在法國橡木桶中陳釀18個月，其中新桶比例為60%。最後，酒液會經釀酒顧問精心調配，由此產出風味複雜且富有魅力的葡萄酒。通常，有70%的酒液用於調配正牌酒，另外30%則用於調配副牌酒。
