【A century-old family winery, craftsmanship passed down through four generations】
ZTF174-Domaine Borgeot Meursault Les Clous 2022
$690/btl

Meursault is located in the Côte de Beaune appellation (Côte-d'Or). There are 19 Premier Crus Climats. On labels, the appellations Meursault and Meursault Premier Cru may be followed by the vineyard name.
The hard Comblanchian limestone, lost deep beneath the ground at Nuits-Saint-Georges, reappears here, with red wine gradually replacing white as one moves south. Chardonnay grapes thrive nowhere better than here. Along the village streets are a series of small houses belonging to vineyard workers, alongside more imposing residences. The stonework of the 53-meter-high church tower looks like the work of fairies. Cîteaux monks cultivated vineyards in the high-quality soil as early as 1098. The wines are primarily white, with a smaller amount of red. The Meursault appellation of origin was established in 1937.
The best soils are found at an altitude of 260 meters, along the arc between east and west. They consist of Jurassic marls and marly limestones, with patches of magnesian limestone, ancient callovian limestone and argovian marls.

Whether influenced by old tradition or modern thinking, Borgeot now operates biodynamically, using natural fertilizers and maintaining soil vitality to cultivate healthy and vigorous vines while simultaneously controlling yields to enhance quality. Grapes are hand-picked and sorted before undergoing another round of selection on conveyor belts. Only a small number of new barrels are used during aging to enhance the wine's purity and flavor.
