ZF510 - The Dauphin d'Olivier Pessac Leognan Rouge 2021
Special price: $198/bottle
Region: Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux, France
Grape varieties: 60 % Cabernet-sauvignon, 39 % Merlot, 1 % Petit verdot
Alcohol content: 13%
This second wine from Chateau Olivier has notes of dark berries, hints of liquorice and rose petals, with a hint of leather and nougat. Juicy, fresh cherries, with hints of chocolate. Ripe tannins, silky mouthfeel and persistent finish make this a very drinkable wine with great aging potential.

Château Olivier is located in the Graves (Graves) production area in Bordeaux, France, only 11 kilometers away from the famous city of Bordeaux. Château Olivier is a very old winery, whose castle is considered a monument of local history, with traces of the early Middle Ages still remaining. The winery has belonged to a Bordeaux Bethmann family (Bateman family) since the 19th century. In 1867, Alexandre de Bethmann was elected mayor of Bordeaux. Since then, his family has purchased Château Olivier and the estate is still in the hands of descendants of the family. The Bethmann family has now handed over the leadership of the winery to Mr. Laurent Lebrun (agronomist and oenologist). In 1953, Château Olivier's red wine and white wine were both rated as 🏵 classified wines.

Graves Grand Cru Classé:
In Bordeaux, the Graves Grave grading system is divided into 3 levels, of which only 16 wineries are classified as Graves Grand Cru Classé (Graves listed winery), and all of them come from the elite classification-Appellation Pessac-Léognan in the north of Graves, Château Olivier is one of the few wineries where both red wine and white wine are classified as Graves Grand Cru Classé. The designated grapes for red wine in this classification are mainly Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, and the designated grapes for white wine are Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle. The Graf classification system also has Appellation Graves Controlée - for red wines and non-sweet white wines that meet local standards, and Appellation Graves Supérieures - for sweet white wines.
