ZTF186C - Le Petit Cheval 2009 Saint Emilion Grand Cru

Chateau Cheval Blanc, located in the Saint-Emilion appellation on the right bank of Bordeaux, France, received the highest honor, "Saint Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classe A," in the Classification of Saint-Emilion wines in 1954. It has maintained this top ranking in subsequent reclassifications over every decade.

Château Cheval Blanc has two main origins. Firstly, the estate once had a charming inn where King Henry Vérasc often rested while riding his white horse. Hence, the inn was named "Château Cheval Blanc." Later, when it became a winery, it was also called Château Cheval Blanc. Secondly, when the land belonged to Château Figeac, it wasn't uncultivated by grapevines; rather, it was used as a horse stable for the estate. After being sold and extensively planted with grapes, it was officially named Château Cheval Blanc. Regardless, Château Cheval Blanc shares a common historical connection with Château Figeac. Château Cheval Blanc is the longest-owned winery in the Saint-Émilion region by the same family. Regardless, Château Cheval Blanc and Château Figeac share the same historical roots. In 1998, the winery embarked on a new chapter. LVMH Group CEO Bernard Arnault and Baron Albert Frere, Belgium's richest man, took over as owners. Respecting the winery's traditions and history, Bernard Arnault and Baron Albert Frere retained the original winemaking team while injecting innovative ideas to further enhance the quality of the wines. The winery's current iconic new cellar, designed in accordance with their vision, is futuristic yet harmoniously integrated with the surrounding vineyard landscape. Completed in June 2011, the 6,000-square-meter cellar, designed by renowned architect Christian de Portzamparc, is equipped with modern winemaking equipment, including 52 concrete fermentation tanks of varying sizes to accommodate the different grape varieties from various plots.
