[Alsace production area and terroir]
Alsace is located in northeastern France, between the Rhine River and the Vosges Mountains. This winding Rhine River just became the natural dividing line between Germany and France.
Alsace is divided into three main blocks, Alsace AOC, Alsace Grand Cru AOC, and Cremant d’Alsace. The Alsace legal production area was established in 1962 and occupies about 70% of the local production, most of which is produced as white wine. The statutory production area of Alsatian was established in 1975, and the number of special gardens was added in 1983, 1992 and 2007, respectively. Alsace currently has 51 special-grade gardens, whose production accounts for only 4% of Alsace's total production
Mount Vosges blocks the moist air brought by the ocean on the northwest 2 sides, the driest grape-producing region in France.
Since there is no ocean regulation in the inland area, the large difference between day and night temperature is conducive to the growth of white grapes, so that the acidity of white grapes is well preserved, so the white wine brewed is round and thick. 90% of Alsace production is white wine, to preserve the floral and fruity aroma are mainly steel barrel brewing.
