【Distillery】


In 1855, a Scottish entrepreneur named Edward Dyer established a brewery in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, to meet the British demand for affordable beer. Later, the brewery was sold and became a distillery named Mohan Meakin Pvt. Ltd.

OLD MONK first gained popularity in India during the 1960s. Prior to this, Hercules rum was the exclusive beverage supplied to the military. However, due to its superior taste and quality, OLD MONK quickly replaced it as the world-leading brand and became the most popular Indian-made foreign liquor. Its affordable pricing strategy also played a significant role. While Old Monk dominated the market, other brands attempted to compete, but they fell short in both quality and popularity.

In India, Old Monk Rum is available in almost all bars. Pooja Ramesh noted that Old Monk Rum is the only rum brand that does not require advertising and enjoys an excellent reputation in India.

This premium black rum is crafted using traditional methods and aged in oak barrels for at least 7 years. It contains 42.8% alcohol by volume. It features a smooth, creamy texture.
