"SUI," the affordable new gin after Roku, also boasts a quintessentially Japanese style. In addition to the eight common gin ingredients, three additional Japanese herbal ingredients—yuzu, green tea, and ginger—are added. These ingredients are infused and then distilled to bring out their flavors. The eight ingredients include: juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, angelica seeds, cinnamon, cardamom, bitter orange peel, and lemon peel.
Suntory hopes that Sui SUI will pair well with food, offering notes of yuzu, green tea, and a spicy ginger aftertaste. The aroma of grapefruit peel and green tea, with a hint of ginger, creates a very comfortable flavor. It's aimed at izakayas, yakitori restaurants, and other dining destinations, with a focus on gin soda. A 1:4 ratio of Sui SUI to sparkling water creates a refreshing and delicious pairing with food.
The packaging is mainly decorated in turquoise. The word "Cui" is written by calligrapher Ogino Dansetsu, and is decorated with a small illustration of an "Emerald Bird".
Suntory is Japan's oldest whisky company. Its origins can be traced back to a small shop founded in 1899 by Torii Shinjiro, who specialized in selling imported wines. Suntory Spirits Limited, officially known as Suntory, is not a single brand, but rather operates three distilleries: Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita. In addition to the spirits produced by these three distilleries, they also produce Hibiki, renowned for its blends. Common Suntory brands include Suntory, Hibiki, Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita.
