Alto de Cantenac Brown is a white wine produced by Chateau Cantenac Brown, a third-class growth in the Margaux region, since 2011. The winery owns a cool limestone clay soil with an area of ​​only 1.8 hectares planted with 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Semilion. The annual output is very small, only about 9,000 bottles. The winery aims to produce white wines that are comparable to the top Sancerre style, with straightforwardness, minerality, fragrance, flavor, and the pleasure of pairing with food on the table. The grapes are harvested by hand, transported frozen, slowly pressed in an inert atmosphere, fermented in oak barrels, and then aged in barrels for a year. With elderflower, white peach, full of yellow fruits, lemon, minerals, mango, citrus, glucose, and cream biscuits, the aroma is rich and direct, and the wine has layers. Chateau Cantenac-Brown is located in the village of Margaux on the left bank of Bordeaux, adjacent to Chateau Margaux. It was listed as a third growth in the 1855 Médoc classification. At the beginning of the 19th century, the Scottish painter John-Lewis Brown, who was also a wine lover and the owner of the estate, added his name to the manor and built a Tudor-style mansion. The wine style is exactly the same as the building: elegant and refined. The winery was then managed by M. Gromard and Louis Armand Lalande, the owner of Chateau Leoville Poyferre. In 2006, businessman Simon Halabi bought the characteristically English château from Pichon Baron owners Axa-Millésimes Group and brought a new impetus to take the winery to the next level. In 2019, the winery changed ownership to the medical giant Urgo Group. The owner, Tristan Le Lous, was born in agricultural engineering and has a soft spot for grape planting and brewing.
