Tasting notes:

Nose: multifaceted, peat and a touch of brown sugar, freshly ground coffee beans, oatmeal and the most complex tar.

Palate: Dominated by sweet, ripe fruits and Black Forest honey. Helps with malt. Strong and powerful peat and smoked barley overpower the main notes.

Finish: A long finish of peat smoke and brown sugar seeping through caramel and malt, with a hint of fresh espresso at the end.

The Ardbeg distillery was established in Port Ellen on the Isle of Islay in 1815. The distillery changed hands several times over the next two centuries, closing and reopening.

Jim Murray's 2009 World Whiskey of the Year - praised its "splendid silky brilliance" and "a level of complexity that only a few distilleries in the world can dream of achieving". Yabowu Godfather scored 97.5 points out of 100, which is the highest rating awarded by Mr. Murray.

Uigeadail is derived from the Scottish Gaelic word for "dark and mysterious place" and is the name of the hill lake that supplies Yabo water.

Godfather Yabowu was named after him. Pronounced 'Oog-a-dal', it's a special story that blends the traditional deep smoky character of Arbor with the sweet tones of the sherry casks once used to make it. Yabowu Godfather was selected by more than 120,000 Yabo committees as their favorite Yabo.

A cask-strength fine Arbor that has been matured in bourbon and sherry casks, which also imparts a sweet and smoky flavor to the malt. Ugandy is an absolutely stunning whisky, and has become the flagship of Arbeg's range of whiskeys following the discontinuation of Airigh nam Beist.
