【Bodegas Borsao】

Bodegas Borsao is now a globally renowned Spanish winery, known for producing top-quality Garnacha wines. It is often referred to as the ‘Garnacha Empire’ and is one of the world's leading producers of Garnacha. Located in the Campo de Borja region southwest of Rioja, it is considered a distinctive sub-region within the Rioja appellation, boasting approximately 2,500 hectares of vineyards. Borsao is not only highly recommended by wine critics as a premium Spanish winery but is also deeply loved by wine enthusiasts worldwide. Robert Parker praised it as ‘My best value wineries of the year,’ and its wines ranked ninth in the top 100 best-selling wines of the year on Wine.com, the largest wine shopping website in the United States.
The winery's history dates back to 1203, when a group of monks began cultivating grapes and producing wine in the area. In 1958, a cooperative was established, and over time, partners with their own vineyards joined the cooperative. However, it was not until 2001 that the company was officially established under the name Borsao, marking the beginning of a transformation for this centuries-old brand. A professional team was hired to rebuild the winery from the ground up, introducing modern winemaking equipment and selection processes, which helped Borsao gain international recognition. Due to its high-quality wines, Borsao was designated as the official wine supplier for Cathay Pacific Airways.
Robert Parker "My favourite value winery not only inSpain, but in the world, is Bodegas Borsao".
【Campo de Borja產區】

Campo de Boria, where ‘Campo’ means ‘land,’ is a district in the northern Spanish province of Aragon and an ancient town rich in history and culture. Founded in the 5th century by the Celtic-Iberian people, the region was designated as a protected wine-producing area by the Italian Wine Regulatory Council (Consejo Regulador) in 1980.
The region features a combination of Mediterranean and continental climates, with hot summers and cold winters. It is constantly influenced by strong northwesterly winds, resulting in low rainfall that is concentrated in the spring and autumn seasons. This extreme climate creates an ideal environment for the growth of wine grapes. The vineyards are primarily planted on the slopes of the Sierra del Moncayo along the riverbanks, at elevations ranging from 400 to 800 metres. The lower slopes have soils composed of pebbles and clay, while the higher slopes have soils dominated by schist and limestone, rich in minerals. These different soil types produce wines with distinct styles.
【The Empire of Garnacha】
Campo de Borja D.O. is considered the empire of Garnacha production, with its top-tier wines including red wine, rosé wine, and aged red wine. The oldest grapevines date back to 1145 AD, and a few remaining vines can still be found today. The most numerous are vines aged between 30 and 50 years. The unique soil composition and harsh climate, combined with the ancient vines, have shaped the complex flavour profile of Garnacha in this region, characterised by a robust structure yet relatively delicate and elegant texture. The wines produced here are dominated by fruity aromas and flavours, with soft tannins and a pleasant mouthfeel, making them an ideal pairing for a variety of dishes. Garnacha is the most widely planted red grape variety in the world, and besides the name Garnacha, it has many other names. The winery has always been one of the biggest advocates for this variety, believing that Garnacha is particularly suited to the region, so they have worked to improve cultivation and produce high-quality wines.。
