Castle Bouscaut

Castle Bouscaut is a Cru Classé of Graves for its red and white wines.

At 32 m high on the commune of Cadaujac, vineyards, facing south, extends to the foot of the castle, beautiful 18th chartreuse. Castle Bouscaut bought in 1979 to investors in the US East Coast by Lucien Lurton, descended from a line of passionate winemakers, himself owner of numerous classified growths including Medoc. Sophie Lurton Bouscaut receives from his father and took over in 1992.

Today and since 1997, Laurent Cogombles her husband work with him; This agronomist is the current president of the Pessac-Leognan. The duo, after a deep reorganization of the vineyard still being radically transformed Bouscaut facilities in 2010 including a barrel cellar of 400 m2. Dressed barrels staves this winery reflects their philosophy: integration and respect.

Stylish cedar and lightly toasted spices mingle with ripe cherries, blue plums and violets. The palate has a very supple and charmingly fleshy side to it. Boasts long tannins which draw flavors of ripe plums and dark cherries into the deep, suave finish. Impressive.

Initially toasty on the nose, this wine offers a pleasant black-fruit core which shows good oak integration. Its juicy black-currant flavors are just beginning to show on the structured palate, and as it fills out, the flavors will be seamless.

Medium garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Bouscaut has an earth, tar and charcoal nose with a core of red and black currants and a waft of beef drippings. The medium-bodied palate has good intensity and depth with firm, grainy tannins, a lively backbone and great length.

Grand Vin

The Château Bouscaut grand vin is typically a blend of 65 percent Merlot, 20 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 15 percent Malbec. This wine is made from vines that are 35 years old on average, and are grown in a mixture of clayey-calcareous and gravel soils. In the winery, vinification is carried out in stainless steel tanks and the wine aged in 40 percent new oak barrels. Château Bouscaut's white wine is made from 60 percent Sauvignon Blanc and 40 percent Sémillon grapes that ferment and age with battonage in oak barrels, around half of which are new.
