ZTI035 Brovia Villero Barolo DOCG 2015
Special Price : $780/bottle

Type: Red Wine
Grape Variety: 100% Nebbiolo
Region: Barolo, Italy
ABV: 14.5%
Volume: 750ml
Taste: The 2015 Brovia Villero Barolo is full-bodied, elegant, and complex, offering aromas of rose, woodland berries, and tobacco, followed by flavors of Marasca cherry, raspberry, star anise, and cinnamon. Characterized by fine, firm tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, focused finish, it offers complexity and intensity. This medium-bodied wine is balanced and refined, requiring time in the glass and bottle to fully develop its charm, but it perfectly showcases the elegant character of the Villero Nebbiolo.

James Suckling 94 pts—
Aromas of praline, honey, orange peel and cherries follow through to a full body, chewy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Beautiful intensity and power.

Wine Advocate 94 pts—
The 2015 Barolo Villero offers richness and darkness with fruit from Castiglione Falletto, and it's one of the more intense wines I tasted within this selection. The Villero is a balanced and polished Barolo that opens to nicely integrated fruit and spice tones, expertly interwoven and united. The wine has a beautiful entry to the palate. Indeed, this pretty wine presented a united front, with seamless and graceful integration.

Vinous 93+ pts—
The 2015 Barolo Villero is a very pretty, mid-weight wine. Silky tannins andbeautifully expressive aromatics give the Villero considerable finesse. Onthe palate, though, the 2015 is far less expressive. That is not entirelysurprising, as the Villero often needs a few years to truly blossom. Sweetfloral and spice notes start to open with time in the glass, but the Villero isnot an especially forthcoming 2015 Barolo.

Brovia Estate, a historic winery in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, has recently garnered widespread attention and acclaim from international wine critics. Since its founding in 1863, the winery has continuously acquired some of the region's finest vineyards, including Rocche, Villero, and Garblèt Sue (in Bricco Fiasco) in Castiglione Falletto, and Ca' Mia in Serralunga d'Alba. These parcels have been designated as single vineyards, showcasing the distinct character of each plot and representing the winery's flagship wines.

These different plots display varying soil compositions, ranging from heavier clay to more brittle limestone. Brovia is a conscientious grower, prioritizing the precise character of their soil. They analyze the soil every two years to confirm the balance of its various components. They have been fully organic since 2010.

Another commendable aspect of the winery is its tradition of valuing education, passed down from generation to generation. In 1953, after the war, the founder's grandsons, brothers Giacinto and Raffaele, took over the family business, respectively serving as winemaker and viticulturalist, overseeing various aspects of the winery. After Raffaele's death, Giacinto's daughters, Cristina and Elena, joined the family business, one specializing in winemaking and the other in viticulture, ensuring the winery's future stability.

The winery utilizes traditional methods, using native yeasts. The wine is aged for two years in large Slavonian and French oak barrels (approximately 3,000 liters) and is unfiltered before bottling. It continues to age in bottle for 18-24 months before release. Bottle aging allows for further development of the aromas, giving them a unique character.
