Château Boutillot is a historic Bordeaux winery, currently in the hands of the third generation of the Dutrech family. The estate is now part of Yvon Mau, a long-established Bordeaux wine merchant with over 120 years of experience in the wine trade. The most notable highlight of this wine is that it was personally crafted by Hubert de Boüard, owner and chief winemaker of Château Angélus. Hubert de Boüard is hailed as a genius winemaker on the right bank of Bordeaux and is also an internationally influential wine consultant. He served as president of the Saint-Émilion Wine Association from 1999 to 2008 and was named "Person of the Year 2012" by the authoritative French wine magazine *RVF*. This Château Boutillot belongs to the "Révélations" (New Discoveries) series, a collaboration between Yvon Mau and Hubert de Boüard, positioned as a high-quality everyday wine showcasing the classic style of Bordeaux.

The winery's vineyards, situated high in the village of Saint-Michel de Lapouard, cover 21 hectares. The vines are planted on south- and southwest-facing slopes, enjoying ample sunshine. The soils are predominantly clay-limestone, providing excellent growing conditions for Merlot and Cabernet varieties. The vines have an average age of approximately 25 years. Planting density is 3,300 to 4,000 vines per hectare, using the Single Guyot pruning method and implementing Sustainable Agriculture certification, including alternating row tillage and natural turf cover. Planting procedures encompass bud removal, leaf removal, and green harvesting, depending on the vintage and plot requirements.
Tasting Note:
Intense ruby red, with a purple shimmer, brightening on the rim. Subtle notes of nougat, a hint of roasted aromas, ripe plums, nutty notes. Medium-bodied, fresh cherries, well integrated tannins, a salty-lemony finish, already developed, uncomplicated enjoyment.
