Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux is located 32 kilometers north of downtown Bordeaux, north of Blaye Town, on the right bank of the Garonne River, with an area of 5,213 hectares. The vineyards face south and the soil is filled with clay and limestone. The territory is vast and mountainous, with an average altitude of about 70 meters. It is the most downstream of the right bank of Bordeaux. The area was established in 2009 and is collectively called Cotes de Bordeaux together with three other production areas, Cotes de Cadill and Cotes de Franc. Cote means "hill" and "hillside" in French, and Cotes is its plural form. The French have always believed that hillsides are more suitable for growing grapes. Many famous vineyards are located in the middle of the hillside, so they often use the word Cote for production areas, vineyards and wines. The most famous one is Burgundy’s golden hill : Cote d'Or, literally translated as "golden hillside", many famous Burgundy grand cru are located here. Consumers therefore often associate Cote with fine French wines.
