ZF910A - Chateau Citran 2010 Haut Medoc
$155 / bottle

Grape Variety: 55% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc
Region: Haut Medoc Cru Bourgeois, Bordeaux, France
Alcohol: 13.5%
Volume: 750ml

Heiner Lobenberg praised it for still showing an “incredible freshness” after many years of ageing, describing it as “Klassik pur” – pure classic. He noted its high concentration, long finish, with flavours of blackberry, cassis, liquorice, while remaining elegant and tense. It is positioned as an outstanding Haut-Médoc value. The point is no longer just about the scores it received back then, but that after more than a decade it still shows freshness, tension and vitality.
At the same time, Wine Spectator rated Citran 2010 directly as _“the best Citran in many years.

【Winery】

The history of Citran dates back to the 13th century, originally as a fortress. In 1945 it was acquired by the Miailhe family, who at the time also owned renowned estates such as Palmer and Pichon Lalande. In 1987 it was sold to the Japanese Fujimoto Group and began to emerge after renovations by two generations of owners.
Since 1996, it has been co-owned by the current owner Merlaut family and the Taillan Group. The Merlaut family also owns 2nd Growth Gruaud Larose, Château Ferrière, Château Camensac and Chasse-Spleen, and has invited Eric Boissenot, the winemaking consultant of First Growths such as Lafite and Latour, to participate in winemaking – a top-tier lineup.
A historic, high value-for-money Cru Bourgeois that you must have seen even if you haven’t tasted it.
