【Winery】

Château Gaillarteau is located in the commune of Mourens within the Entre-deux-Mers appellation of Bordeaux, France. Situated between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, the estate benefits from a terroir characterized by clay-limestone soils, which yield wines known for their balance and freshness. The estate is owned by the Dubourg family (GAEC Vignobles Dubourg)—a multi-generational winemaking family that has managed vineyards in Bordeaux since 1870 and also owns properties such as Château Nicot and Château Pied d'Argent Bellevue.

In the vineyard, the estate adheres to traditional cultivation methods, relying on manual vine care and minimizing the use of chemical treatments in accordance with environmentally friendly principles. The vines have an average age of approximately 25 years; their roots penetrate deep into the clay-limestone strata to absorb mineral nutrients, resulting in fruit with concentrated flavors and crisp acidity.


【Winemaking】

The estate maintains rigorous standards for white wine production, with the preservation of fruit aromas as the primary objective throughout the process:

After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo bunch-by-bunch sorting to remove any damaged fruit and ensure the purity of the raw material. Gentle pneumatic pressing is employed to extract juice while avoiding the extraction of bitter compounds from the skins, thereby maximizing the juice's freshness. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 16–18°C; this slow process preserves delicate aromatic notes, such as citrus and white flowers.

Once the target sweetness level is reached, the temperature is lowered to halt fermentation, thereby retaining the grape's natural sugars. A portion of the wine undergoes short-term aging on the lees, with regular stirring (batonnage) to enhance the wine's roundness and texture. No new oak barrels are used, ensuring that oak flavors do not mask the fruit aromas and allowing for a pure, fresh expression of the fruit.
