Château Gaillarteau is located in the commune of Mourens within the Entre-deux-Mers appellation of Bordeaux, France. Situated between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, the estate benefits from a terroir characterized by clay-limestone soils, which yield wines known for their balance and freshness. The estate is owned by the Dubourg family (GAEC Vignobles Dubourg)—a multi-generational winemaking family that has managed vineyards in Bordeaux since 1870 and also owns properties such as Château Nicot and Château Pied d'Argent Bellevue.

In the vineyard, the estate adheres to traditional cultivation methods, relying on manual vine care and minimizing the use of chemical treatments in accordance with environmentally friendly principles. The vines have an average age of approximately 25 years; their roots penetrate deep into the clay-limestone strata to absorb mineral nutrients, resulting in fruit with concentrated flavors and crisp acidity.

【Winemaking】

The winery employs traditional Bordeaux red winemaking techniques, prioritizing the preservation of pure fruit aromas throughout the process:

- Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted bunch by bunch to remove damaged or unripe berries, ensuring uniform ripeness;

- After gentle destemming and crushing, the fruit undergoes cold maceration to fully extract pigments and aromatic compounds from the skins while avoiding the extraction of harsh tannins;

- Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with precise temperature management to maximize the retention of fresh berry flavors;

- Malolactic fermentation follows, softening the wine's body and creating a rounder, smoother mouthfeel;

- A portion of the wine is briefly aged in oak barrels to impart subtle notes of vanilla and toasted oak, while the main batch matures in stainless steel tanks; the final blend is balanced by the winemaker to ensure consistent flavor across every bottle.

This wine follows a classic Bordeaux blend formula: Merlot forms the core, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and a small amount of Cabernet Franc.

Merlot plays the leading role, contributing a supple, rounded mouthfeel and flavors of ripe red fruit; Cabernet Sauvignon provides structural backbone and aromas of black fruit, enhancing the overall composition; a touch of Cabernet Franc adds delicate notes of spice and herbs, enriching the flavor profile with greater complexity.
