Characteristics: Traditional Bordeaux winemaking in stainless steel vats and temperature-controlled concrete. 3 to 4 weeks in maceration.
Taste: The body of the wine is deep ruby red when it is poured out, and it smells rich fruity aroma: the flavors of cherry, raspberry, and red berry fill the nose cavity, the entrance is full of fruity aroma, and the overall balance is a very strong one in Médoc. Good example, is my personal favorite Bordeaux wine. This wine pairs well with classic red meat dishes (from steak to prime rib), but it's also great with autumn root vegetable pie or mushroom risotto, making it an ideal wine pairing.
【Chateau Grand Bouchon 】
The Château is located in the commune of Lafon, west of Lesparre, in the heart of the Médoc appellation. The overall gentle slope of the vineyard, planted between the villages of Civrac and Prignac, is called "Grand Bouchon". The vineyard covers an area of 22 hectares with clay-limestone soils planted with 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon.

A collaboration between renowned winemakers Hubert de Boüard and Yvon Mau négoce Enterprises, this wine is a classic Left Bank blend dominated by Merlot. Born from the gorgeous 2016 vintage, it offers aromas of cassis, cherry, raspberry and undergrowth, with a slightly woody touch of oak. Hubert de Boüard is co-owner of Château Angélus, a first grand cru in Saint-Émilion and a world-renowned consultant winemaker. He has been working with Bordeaux winery Yvon Mau to explore beautiful unknown terroirs with great potential. With a common ambition: to produce exemplary Bordeaux wines in a fruity and balanced style, accessible to all.
【Révélations d'Hubert de Boüard Collection - Showcasing the diversity of Bordeaux terroir 】
The collection, titled Révélations d'Hubert de Boüard, is a collection of seven exclusive and little-known châteaux covering five Bordeaux appellations including Saint-Emilion, Côtes de Bordeaux and Medoc. The collection aims to market consumers to lesser-known Bordeaux estates at prices between 5 and 11 euros.
The collection will "showcase the diversity of Bordeaux terroir within small estates," de Bouard said, and provide a "market window" for those estates. "Our aim was to create a range of products that would promote Bordeaux as a small chateau, producing wines that are easy to drink and particularly elegant. "We wanted to showcase the diversity and complexity of Bordeaux in terms of geography. We have amazing terroirs where people don't have a market, so this will help them. It's also good for consumers because they will have a brand they can trust," he said.
De Bouard has worked with each of the seven châteaux including: Château Garrienne and Boudiller in Bordeaux, Château d'Orvinoble in Château Superior, La Pi in the Côtes de Castillon in Bordeaux Château El Levy, Château Ségrédy and Château Fougères in Saint-Émilion and Château Grande Bouchanin in the Médoc, consultancy in viticulture, plot selection, harvesting and brewing.
“Our aim was to use a bit of new oak to make wines with soft tannins, fruit, freshness and a touch of elegance,” he added.
