Winery
Chateau La Freynelle is a seven-generation family-owned boutique winery in Bordeaux. Passed down through generations since 1789, and managed by Veronique Bar The since 1990, the winery has consistently focused on the Entre-Deux-Mers appellation, dedicated to the cultivation of local white grape varieties and traditional winemaking methods.
Region
The winery's 80 hectares of vineyards are situated on the region's typical clay-limestone hills. The winery adheres to meticulous vineyard management, strictly controlling yields per acre to maximize the concentration of fruit flavors, refusing excessive intervention, and combining this with modern low-temperature control technology to preserve the original fruit aromas of the grapes to the greatest extent. This results in consistently high-quality wines with an approachable and accessible style, distinct from industrially mass-produced table wines. Each bottle carries the passion and craftsmanship of the family winemakers—this is its second core selling point: a family-owned winery, meticulous management, and artisanal craftsmanship, resulting in quality far exceeding mass-produced wines in the same price range, with a purer and more distinctive taste.
Winemaking
In terms of grape varieties and winemaking techniques, this wine consistently adheres to classic Bordeaux principles while also catering to the taste preferences of modern consumers, creating a unique competitive advantage. The grapes are blended in a classic ratio: primarily Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, accented with a touch of Muscadelle for added aroma. The Sauvignon Blanc contributes fresh herbal notes of lime, currant, and grass, creating a crisp, high-acid structure; the Sémillon softens the body and balances the sharp acidity, offering aromas of white peach, pear, and subtle honey; the Muscadelle adds white floral notes and delicate lychee blossom, enriching the aroma layers and creating a more complex overall flavor profile, avoiding the monotony of a single varietal. During winemaking, the winery selects only the healthiest grapes, using gentle, low-temperature pressing to avoid extracting bitter substances from the skins. Fermentation is conducted in stainless steel tanks at a constant temperature of 12-16°C to fully lock in the fresh floral and fruit aromas and prevent oxidation. A short, gentle lees contact further enhances the wine's roundness. The entire aging process is done without oak barrels to completely avoid any oak odor interference, resulting in a purer fruit aroma and a crisper palate.
