Region

Lussac-Saint-Emilion is the northernmost satellite appellation, separated from Montagne-Saint-Emilion by a creek. The vineyards cover 1,396 hectares, with an annual production of approximately 825,000 cases. The appellation's name originates from the ruins of a Roman building named after a man named Luccius, who is said to be the first to develop Lussac-Saint-Emilion. The vineyards here have complex soil compositions: gentle slopes are dominated by limestone and clay, valleys are gravelly, while the higher ground is predominantly sandy and clay, all possessing excellent natural drainage. This modern-style wine, primarily made from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, is full-bodied, powerful, and elegant. It boasts aromas of red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry, and cherry, accompanied by notes of licorice, leather, dried plum, and spices. With aging, it develops deeper layers of flavor, even hints of game.
