【New Zealand's National Treasure Winery】
Cloudy Bay is located in the Wairau Valley of Marlborough on New Zealand's South Island, a cool, humid region with clay-based soils and the longest sunshine hours in New Zealand, which has been recognized as the most desirable region in New Zealand for Sauvignon Blanc. Cloudy Bay has been in the region for many years and is one of the first wineries to be recognized on the international stage for its New Zealand wines, making it one of New Zealand's national treasures.
Since its founding in 1985, CloudyBay has been committed to quality and capturing the vibrant and unique flavors of the Marlborough Sounds, presenting the purest, most natural and world-class tastes, and has successfully expanded its New Zealand white wine, Sauvignon Blanc, to become one of the most recognizable brands amongst the world's wine drinkers. Sauvignon Blanc is a perfectly balanced blend of citrus and lime flavors that is vibrant and multilayered.

【Marlborough - Terroir of Marlborough】
Marlborough is sunny. While the weather is getting warmer, the average temperature is on the cool side. Warm days allow vines to ripen vigorously, while cool nights bring balance and acidity
In Marlborough, Cloudy planted left 163 vineyards with 65 growing areas. The site near the Wairau River has rocky, sandy, free-draining soils ideal for the iconic Sauvignon Blanc. In the southern valleys south of the river, the vineyards of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay prefer heavy clay soils. This type of soil complements Marlborough's maritime climate,
Lays the groundwork for Cloudy Bay's captivating wine style.
【The Origin of Cloudy Bay】
In 1983, David Hohnen tasted his first Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Captivated by its intensity, he embarked on a journey to bottle the essence of Marlborough and share it with the world.
In 1985, he and winemaker Kevin Judd launched Cloudy Bay winery to international acclaim, including a Sauvignon Blanc that made New Zealand wine famous. Cloudy Bay joined Veuve Clicquot in 2003 and became part of the LVMH family in 2010.
The Cloudy Bay saga began with Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and now includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pelorus méthode traditionnelle. Te Koko (barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc) and Te Wahi (exquisite Central Otago Pinot Noir from two of our exceptional southern vineyards) continue the spirit of adventure.
