Rene-Jean Dard and Francois Ribo met at a wine school in Beaune. Their story begins when Rene-Jean inherited his father's one-hectare vineyard. His father originally intended to make wine for himself and sell a small portion. Fifteen-year-old Dard, after his father's death, had to manage the vineyard while attending school. Later, Francois joined him, forming the Dard & Ribo duo. They gradually acquired more vineyards, expanding to their current 8.5 hectares spread across the Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, and Hermitage districts. The purchase of the Crozes-Hermitage vineyard was due to the following serendipitous encounter.
