【Chabis Bougros】

Bougros is one of the seven climates (Climat) of the Chablis Grand Cru white wine region, located on the northwest edge of the Grand Cru hillside, sheltered from the wind. They extend to a large south-west facing terrace at the top and a steeper south-facing slope at the bottom. This hillside location is especially beneficial for it because of its long exposure to the sun. Although the soil drains naturally, the unique layout of this climate becomes apparent from a geological point of view: on the slopes, the soil is poor, while on the terraces, in the upper part, the soil becomes deeper with the addition of clay and soil. Compared to other Chablis grand crus wines, the wines from this vineyard are very rounded and less austere. Solid and elegant, they tend to be more accessible when young. The vineyard covers nearly 16 hectares (39 acres) on the right bank of the Selin River north of the town of Chablis, and its vines are planted in the award-winning Kimmeridgian soil – an important part of the Chablis terroir. The Bougros slope becomes quite steep near the bottom of the river, facing southwest towards the afternoon sun. This means that the vines can be well exposed to the sun, increasing the chance of ripening and causing the grapes to be rich in phenolics. Bougros wines are well-balanced, with typical intense minerality.
