Special price: $350/piece
Production area: France/LoireValley/ Menetou-Salon
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Alcohol content: 13.5%
Pinot Noir is brewed from the Champaloin vineyard. The grapevines in the vineyard were planted by Paul Gilbert, a relative of the owner, in the 1960s. There are only 35 rows. Therefore, the owner named the wine “35 Rangs”. Only 1,975 bottles were produced in 2018, so production is scarce. The soil in the vineyard is rich in iron, and 40-50% of whole bunch grapes are used for brewing and oak barrels (600 liter capacity) are used for aging for 18 months. This gives the wine a rich spice and salty aroma, which is more mature and mature. The rich cherry fruit flavors complement each other perfectly.
【Domaine Philippe Gilbert】

Domaine Philippe Gilbert is named after the owner of the winery. The winery is located in the Menetou-Salon production area of Loire Valley in France and has a history of more than 250 years. The current owner, Philippe Gilbert, is a playwright who returned to Menetou-Salon in 1998 to take over the winery from his father. The family has run the winery since 1768. The owner's grandfather was one of the initiators of the establishment of Menetou-Salon AOC. Philippe Gilbert has long advocated organic farming. When he took over the family business, he and winemaker Jean-Philippe Louis converted 30 hectares of land first to organic farming and later to biodynamic farming.

The winery has 32 hectares of vineyards located in prime locations in Menetou-Salon, Vignoux Parassy and Morogues in the Loire Valley, planting Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. The local soil is a typical mixture of clay and limestone, located on the famous Kimmeridgian Basin. The soil is similar to that of Chablis, but has a completely different climate. And at its best, it has a rich mineral flavor and a long-lasting mouthfeel. The appellation itself covers only 470 hectares, a narrow strip of land 5 kilometers wide and 25 kilometers long (from Pigny to Humbligny).
【September 1, 2024 - Tasting sessions on natural wines and their origins】
"Natural Wines and Where They Come From" wine tasting hosted by The Victuals X Wine Guru
As one of the exhibitors, Wine Time, along with dozens of other wine merchants, “just let it take its course.”
Implement the concept of natural wine, dare to try and innovate, and bring about the trend of local natural wine

Natural wine is wine that minimizes artificial intervention. In one sentence, it is the original wine with no additives or modifications.
They are like uncarved jade, with a turbid appearance. Compared with ordinary wine, they are more simple and wild.
Topics such as excessive use of chemicals and sulfur dioxide often appear around us, so organic, pure natural, biodynamic, and additive-free have become the standards sought after by people. Wine lovers know that most vineyard areas have strict regulations for planting, and winemaking technology has become more and more developed over time. We are making wine in ways that our ancestors never thought of; however, in this process, the wines produced on the market seem to Lost "original intention"

Natural wine is like a hippie artist who advocates natural and primitive life, and can often bring you unexpected surprises! Just like the two Domaine Philippe Gilbert wines brought this time, both red and white wines are from Central Loire - Menetou-Salon
The Kimmeridgian soil in the vineyard gives the white wine a rich mineral feel; the red wine, with an annual output of less than 2,000 bottles, is brewed from the fruits of the core grape field, which has been planted since 1960 and has only 35 rows. The wine is named “35 Rangs”
【Menetou-Salon 】

Menetou-Salon is located in the middle of the Loire Valley, 20 kilometers northeast of Bourges. The soil is dominated by Kimmeridgian limestone, which came from the ocean that covered the area 150 million years ago. There are many fossils and white limestone here, which give the region’s wines all their mineral notes. It has a temperate continental climate, and about 20% of the wineries in the entire production area have obtained relevant certifications for organic agriculture. The vine has been exploited since the Middle Ages (11th century) and is famous for its 100% Sauvignon Blanc white wine. In addition, it also produces relatively cheap and high-quality Pinot Noir, mostly in the light style of fresh red fruits.
