Tasting Notes:
Sweet white wine is most favoured by ladies. The winemaker deliberately maintains a low alcohol content during fermentation while preserving residual sugar. It offers notes of lychee and floral aromas, with a refreshingly light sweetness and delicate effervescence. Comfortable and rich on the palate, it is exceptionally easy to drink, appealing even to those who seldom partake of wine. It is most suitable for parties or gatherings.
Winery Introduction:

Duchessa Lia Winery, situated in the Piedmont region, produces premium wines and world-renowned sparkling wines. The winery's successful development both domestically and internationally stems from the Capetta family, now in its third generation. Its founder, Francesco, established the first winery in Santo Stefano Belbo in 1953. Today, the estate's proprietors continue the founder's passion for wine, operating as one of the industry's leading companies. They ensure the optimal quality of each product while maximising respect for the environmental conditions of the vintage year.
Duchessa Lia Winery was established in 1953 when Francesco Capetta, founder of the Capetta family, built the first winery in the town of Santo Stefano Belbo, at the heart of Italy's Piedmont region. Situated at Corso Piave 140, this gateway to the Langhe region is now managed by the third generation of the Capetta family, who passionately preserve and elevate Piedmont's winemaking heritage. As Italy's largest producer and distributor of Piedmontese wines, Duchessa Lia focuses on environmentally sustainable cultivation and hand-picked harvests, strictly adhering to DOC and DOCG regulations. It produces over 20 varieties of red, white and sparkling wines, exported to Europe, America and Asia, becoming the preferred choice for gifting and dining occasions.
The brand name originates from a romantic 19th-century legend in the Monferrato villages: a commoner girl named Lia, born of humble origins yet honoured by villagers as ‘Duchessa’ (Duchess) for her innate grace and pure heart. Her story embodies humility and noble grace – the very essence of the estate's philosophy: fidelity to terroir, sincerity and elegance. Inspired by this semi-legendary tale, Duchessa Lia's wines poetically capture the essence of Piedmont, representing the brilliant crystallisation of UNESCO World Heritage regions including Langhe (Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto), Roero (Arneis), Asti (Moscato, Asti Spumante), Monferrato (Barbera, Grignolino, Freisa), Acqui (Brachetto), and Gavi.
The estate's vineyards span these historic hillsides, selecting the finest terroirs: Langhe's mist and sunshine nurture robust reds; Asti's vineyards capture spring floral notes to craft light sparkling wines; while Monferrato's diverse soils yield balanced fruitiness. Duchessa Lia not only produces but actively champions Piedmontese wine culture, becoming a benchmark for international distribution – each bottle a tribute to 300 years of Langhe heritage. Uncorking one invites you into this UNESCO-recognised wine paradise, savouring the timeless allure of Italy's noble terroir!
