Drinking notes: This Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classe smells delicious black fruits as soon as it is opened, with strong fruity aromas of black cherries, jam, and cloves. The wine is full-bodied and creamy. The tannins are powerful but very fine, with backbone. It has good acidity and has the ability to age for at least ten years. It subverts the impression that Saint Emilion wine is softer than usual. Excellent with beef short ribs. It is worth mentioning that the 2016 Saint Emilion is a beautiful vintage. Both 2016 and 2015 were the best vintages in the past ten years. They received historically high scores on the Wine Advocate vintagechart, second only to 2000, which scored 96 points.
【James Suckling 94pts】
There’s a wealth of ripe and rich darkplums and berries on offer here with a regal array of plush, velvety tannins that have great length and power. Precision and balance. Certainly among the best wines in 2016.
【Robert Parker 93pts】
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Faurie de Souchard reveals crushed raspberries, warm red and black cherries and chocolate box scents with hints of wood smoke, tilled soil and dried herbs. Medium-bodied and wonderfully elegant in the mouth, it has exquisitely ripe tannins and just enough freshness to support the delicate flavors, finishing perfumed.

【Chateau Faurie de Souchard】
Faurie de Souchard was formerly Chateau Petit Faurie de Souchard built in 1851. It is currently one of the wineries owned by Dassault Wine Estates. The wineries under the group also include Chateau La Fleur and Chateau Dassault, which belong to the famous family of Saint Emilion. The soil is mainly sandy and clay. The winery is committed to producing high-quality wines. The winery will only harvest fully ripe grapes, and the wine will be fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in 75% new French barrels and 25% old barrels for 14-16 months. The winery is also one of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe.
