Four Pillars Navy Strength Gin’s strength is derived from the distillation of Australian orange and fresh ginger used in the botanical basket. Australian orange brings out the flavors of Asian spices like coriander and star anise, while ginger adds a nice crunch. The aroma is dominated by rich, fresh ginger and blood orange. The finish is spicy with notes of blood orange, citrus, vanilla and cardamom.
【Navy Strength Gin】
According to legend, in order to determine whether the rationed liquor was diluted with water, sailors in the Age of Discovery used gunpowder to soak rum in it to see if it could be ignited. This method was later used by the United Kingdom to identify alcohol strength. The alcohol concentration was set as a benchmark at "100 British Proof", also known as "Navy Strength". From the 16th century to the beginning of 1970, the British Navy had a welfare of rationing alcoholic beverages, and officers would receive gin as a ration. 100 British Proof is converted to the common alcohol concentration ABV of about 57%, so many distilleries pay tribute to the Royal Navy and launch 57% ABV felt. Since then, this type of gin has been called Navy Strength Gin.
【FourPillars - Australian gin】
Four Pillars is a small distillery in Yarra Valley, Australia. It was co-founded by Cam, Stu and Matt in 2013 with the hope of improving the distilling process of Gin. They believe that simplicity is the key, so they named it FourPillars, hoping to create high-quality Gin with four simple pillars (high-quality distillation, high-quality materials, high-quality local water, and attention to every detail of the distillation process). As the first gin distillery in Australia to achieve carbon neutrality for all gin bottled on site (product certification) and the entire Four Pillars enterprise (organization certification), Four Pillars is now distributed on five continents around the world, has won three Double Golds in New York and Washington, and has been voted as one of the best gin brands.
