ZF589-Franc Beausejour 2022 Pomerol
$260/btl
Type:Red Wine
In the glass, it presents a deep ruby red color. The aroma is dominated by pure, rich fruit notes, exuding the rich fragrance of blackberry and plum, accompanied by spicy hints of pepper and clove. A touch of violet adds further complexity. On the palate, the wine is round and full-bodied, with a harmonious texture. The aroma is dominated by rich fruit flavors, with the characteristic spiciness of the Pomerol region. The wine is smooth and pleasant, with firm tannins and a soft, mature finish.

Founded in 2011 by Yves Glotin, who previously owned two estates on the Right Bank of Bordeaux: Château Goudichaud and Château Fage, Les Capucins merged with Gabart Laval Export in 2021, but its operations have remained largely unchanged. Les Capucins is a small team comprised of Yves Glotin, winemakers Benoit Fleure, Pierre Bocquet, and Marie Gabriele.

The winemaking process utilizes traditional methods: "delestage," where the juice is drained during the primary fermentation, allowing the grapes to be gently pressed under their own weight. This is followed by "remontage," a process that ensures full extraction of color, aroma, and tannins. The wine is then aged for 12 months in small oak barrels, one-third of which are first-time oak barrels. The resulting red wine allows wine lovers to experience the unique terroir of Pomerol – including its complex aromas, high elegance, and exceptional aging potential. Yet, the price is significantly lower than other well-known brands from the region.
