After 28 years of maturation, it is still a very rich and vital wine. It uses bourbon and sherry barrels, of which sherry barrels account for a large proportion, bringing it a rich fruity aroma; starting with the aroma of roasted apples and plums, it evolves into the taste of pudding, butter toffee and toasted oatmeal, with a hint of coconut.

Although Macduff Distillery may not have reached the top level in the industry, it is part of John Dewar & Sons under the Bacardi Group and has steadily produced about 3.4 million liters of high-quality whiskey every year since its establishment in 1962.

Located on the coast of the East Highlands of Scotland, Macduff Distillery is close to the town of Banff, located near a fishing port of the same name on the banks of the Defferan River, adjacent to the Moray Firth, and not far from the eastern border of the Speyside region. This geographical location has led some sources to classify Macduff as a Speyside production area, not only because of the special geographical location, but also because the whiskey produced by the distillery shows a distinct Speyside style.

Macduff Distillery expanded gradually: from two to three stills in 1965, four in 1967 and five in 1990. In 1972, William Lawson Distillers took over the privately owned business, which was sold to General Beverage Corporation eight years later. The Italians were straightforward in their approach - all single malts were named Glen Deveron and initially only five and eight year olds were offered to meet the local market's demand for younger, fresher flavours.

In 1993, with the acquisition of Martini by Bacardi, Macduff became part of the Dewar's Imperial Whisky series and has continued to do so to this day. It is worth noting that most of the malt whiskies produced here are used as the basis for blended whiskies, and only about 10% are bottled and sold as single malt whiskies.

Macduff offers a variety of official bottling options, including 16-year-old, 20-year-old and 30-year-old premium products. All of these officially released products are actually launched under the Glen Deveron brand. In addition, in addition to these official channels, there are also special versions provided by some independent bottlers for consumers to choose from.
