Masahiro Distillery, founded in 1883, is one of the oldest and largest distilleries in Okinawa. The KUJIRA Okinawa Whisky is distilled from 100% premium rice and crafted from hand-selected whiskies covering different ages by the master blender, creating a harmonious flavors and aromas. The whisky is aged under the constant sunshine and sea breeze in Okinawa Island. The subtropical climate and maritime condition provide a warm and humid storage condition that accelerates the maturation process, exhibiting the uniqueness of Okinawa Whisky with subtle fruitiness, botanical flavors, and powerful body texture

The KUJIRA brand ("whale" in Japanese) originates from Masahiro Shuzo in Okinawa, Japan. Founded in 1883, the brewery is one of Okinawa's oldest and largest distilleries, and the first in the islands to receive ISO 9001 certification. The Higa family, once granted a distillery license by the Ryukyu Dynasty, continues the Ryukyu Islands' 500-year-old tradition of spirits brewing.

The brand is named after the whale, a species native to the Ryukyu Islands, who are considered guardians of peace and nature. Historically, the Ryukyu Islands have been plagued by war, and local residents view whales as symbols of tolerance and freedom, expressing their desire for peace.

It uses 100% indica rice imported from Thailand (some wines use local indica rice from Okinawa), and is saccharified and fermented with black yeast fungi unique to the Ryukyu Islands, giving the wine a unique rice aroma and tropical fruit flavor.
