Leading the status of the king of Bordeaux white grapes-Pessac Leognan

WF643A Chateau La Louviere Blanc Pessac Leognan 2022
Special  price: $330

Producing area/grade: France / Bordeaux / Pessac Leognan
Grape variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Alcohol: 14%
Volume: 750ml
Tasting notes: The wine is amber-golden in color, and the aroma fully shows the unique minerality of Pessac Leognan. The taste is based on the plump pomegranate fruit, followed by flint, beeswax, and crispy granny apples; the fruit is rich and has a slightly acidic finish with green lemon. The overall tartness is round and creamy, without burden. Feel the fruit feast brought by the typical Pessac Leognan.

James Suckling 93
The sliced-apple and dried-lemon aromas, with some pear and kiwi character at the end, are coming through beautifully. Medium to full body with phenolic tension that adds layers and tension to the wine.

Decanter 93
Bright and zesty, vibrant and thrilling, a lovely sense of electricity to this with citrus lemon 93/100
peel, lime, apricot and peach. Nicely textured, keeping the straightness and direction. Detailed
and enjoyable. Direct, streamlined but refined and polished. Sharp and alive with lovely
complexity and nuances of spice, herbs and stone fruit."

Wine Advocate 91
More vibrant and lively than during the en primeur tasting, the 2022 La Louvière Blanc offers up aromas of lemongrass, pear, ripe orchard fruits and menthol. Moderately weighted and gently incisive, it's sappy and energetic with a long, mouthwatering finish.

Vinous 90
The 2022 La Louvière Blanc shows good energy, but it is also on the richer side, despitepicking in mid-August. Apricot, tangerine peel, passion fruit and soaring floral notes fill outthe layers.

Like many Pessac Leognan estates, La Louviere Castle also has a long history. In fact, the Louvre (Chateau La Louviere) dates back to the 1300s. The vineyards were confiscated during the French Revolution and eventually sold to the Mareilhac family, who at some point owned the Rieussec winery in Sauternes. The estate was modernized again in 2008. Today, the estate is managed by Andre Lurton. The Lurton family owns several other Bordeaux wineries, including Couhins-Lurton and Dauzac in Margaux. Chateau La Louviere has very good neighbors. Located in Cadaujac, not far from Chateau Haut Bailly, opposite is Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte, with very good terroir.

Chateau La Louviere wine is not always the same. They have been working hard since 2015. Chateau La Louviere hired Michel Rolland and Denis Dubourdieu as consultants to improve their wine quality. Since then, the winery’s wines have never had such a perfect performance. The average production of Chateau La Louviere wines per year is 20,000 cases. The annual output of white wine is close to 4,000 cases, and the overall performance of white wine is even better. In order to produce Chateau La Louviere white wine, there is no contact between the juice and the skin after the grapes are pressed. There is no malolactic fermentation. Alcoholic fermentation begins in tanks and continues in a combination of old and new French oak barrels. Depending on the age, the wine in the dregs in the barrels will use an average of 45% of the new French oak barrels for aging, which lasts nearly 9 months.
