ZF530-Chateau La Negly La Natice Rose 2020
$108/btl

Chateau La Negly is located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France, specifically within the La Clape appellation. The winery boasts a rich history dating back to the 18th century, originally named Domaine de la Ancely. In 1807, the winery was renamed Chateau La Negly. Over the centuries, the winery has undergone significant changes in vineyard management and winemaking techniques to enhance the quality of its wines. Today, Chateau La Negly is renowned for producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique La Clape terroir, primarily red and rosé.
The winery is currently managed by the Paux-Rosset family, who have made a significant contribution to enhancing the winery's reputation. Winemaker Claude Gros works closely with the family, bringing his expertise and passion to the winemaking process. Their collaborative efforts ensure that every bottle reflects the winery's commitment to excellence and the unique character of the region.

Chateau La Negly's vineyards are nestled within the La Clape Mountains, a limestone outcrop that was once an island in the Mediterranean. This unique geological structure provides soils rich in limestone and clay, contributing to the wine's minerality and complexity. Located near the Mediterranean Sea, it enjoys a maritime climate characterized by abundant sunshine, moderate temperatures, and cooling sea breezes. These conditions are ideal for grape cultivation, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly while maintaining acidity. The 2020 growing season was warm with minimal rainfall, resulting in intense flavor and excellent grape health.

The grapes for La Natice Rosé are harvested during the cooler months to preserve their freshness and aromatic potential. Upon arrival at the winery, they are gently pressed to extract the desired light color and delicate flavors. Fermentation takes place in low-temperature stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit and the wine's aromatic concentration. After fermentation, the wine spends a brief rest on fine lees to intensify its flavor and add subtle complexity. This meticulous approach results in an elegant and expressive rosé wine that captures the essence of its Mediterranean origins.
