Taste: The wine is full-bodied, deep in color, and fresh in flavor, showing the taste of ripe plums, fruit cake and black cherries, accompanied by notes of cedar and spices. The tannins are well handled and the emphasis is on the power and balance of the Pomerol zone. Smooth quality!

Pomerol

Pomerol is the smallest of the major Bordeaux wine-producing regions, with a mere 800 hectares of grape planting area. Compared with the 5,000 hectares of its neighbor St. Emilion, it is simply small. Although After all, there are also well-known wineries in Pomerol, including Petrus, Le Pin, and Trotanoy!

The 784 hectares of grape planting area is indeed a bit small, but the terroir of each production area in Pomerol is not the same at all, and the density and size of the gravel in the soil affect the flavor of the wine. Going west along the production area, you will find that the sand content of the soil is getting higher and higher⬆, but the higher the sand content, the stronger the flavor of the wine is not. Just like Saint-Emilion, the Pomerol production area is also mainly planted with Merlot. Cabernet Franc is older and more susceptible to spring frost❄ weather.

For the Right Bank, the 2015 vintage was a very reliable one, almost as good as the 2009 vintage. The 2015 vintages of Pomerol and Saint Emilion are particularly stunning. These wines are rich and fat, with ripe tannins and a fresh style. Merlot, grown in clay soil, was the highlight of the vintage, while Cabernet Franc also performed well.

Chaeau Le Caillou

Chaeau Le Caillou, translated from Chinese as Chateau Le Caillou, is located in the Pomerol production area on the right bank of Bordeaux, France. It was founded in 1975 and is an asset of Giraud-Belivier. It is operated and maintained by Andre Giraud. The vineyard covers an area of 7 hectares, part of which is located in the highest part of the Pomeral, the soil is dominated by a mixture of clay and gravel. In terms of winemaking, the winery insists on refinement, using manual picking, maceration for 3-4 weeks, and fermentation with concrete lees. The fermented wine will be placed in oak barrels to mature for 12-15 months, and then bottled. The annual output is approximately 3,000 boxes.
