2011 Les Carmes Haut-Brion, with flavors of blueberry and chocolate. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a rich finish. Strong structure. This wine is of excellent quality for this vintage and shows the skill of its new owners. It is medium-bodied and fresh on the palate with a core of sweet, dark red berry fruits. 【James Suckling 92 pts】
An outstanding wine from the 2011 vintage, with blueberry and chocolate character. It’s full-bodied, with velvety tannins and an intense finish. Shows powerful structure. Extremely well done from here for the vintage; shows the hand of the new owner. Better in 2016.

Another beautiful example of minerality, finesse, elegance, and complexity, this earthy, spicy 2006 exhibits sweet raspberry and red currant fruit accompanied by hints of barbecue smoke and tobacco leaf. Medium-bodied, pure, and not terribly powerful, it is built around delicacy and purity. Give it 2-4 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following 15 years.

The vineyards of Château La Roche-Roi are located in the Pessac region on the southwestern border of Bordeaux, very close to the famous Château Haut-Brion. From 1584 to 1789, the estate was owned by the Grands Carmes abbey. After the Revolution, the Bordeaux merchant family, the Chantecaille family, bought the winery and continued to run it until this century. At the end of 2010, the Chantecaille family sold the winery to the Pichet wealth group. The group has plans to invest heavily in new winemaking vessels and renovate the wine cellar and related buildings.
The winery currently has 4.7 hectares of vineyards, of which 55% is planted with Merlot grapes, 30% is planted with Cabernet Franc grapes, and 15% is planted with Used to grow Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. When the grapes reach ideal maturity, the winery will pick them manually. After the grapes are picked, they are screened and skinned, and then placed in stainless steel fermentation tanks with temperature control functions for fermentation. The fermented wine will then be aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 18 months before being bottled in the winery.
The winery currently produces two types of wine, namely the first and second labels (Le Clos des Carmes) of dry red wine, with the current average annual output being 25,000 bottles.
