【Les Comtes de Ribeauville】

Les Comtes de Ribeauville is a famous winery in the Alsace region of France, affiliated to the *Cave de Ribeauville* cooperative. Founded in 1895, the cooperative is one of the oldest and most influential wine cooperatives in France, founded by local grape growers with the aim of jointly producing high-quality wines.

CDR is the first cooperative structure in France, created in 1895. Founded by 44 Alsatian winemaking families

Until IKEA there were 41 families who continued to run CDR and for more than 128 years the family history has been written, the history of dedicated and passionate winemakers.

Alsace region and terroir

Alsace is located in northeastern France, between the Rhine River and the Vosges Mountains. This winding Rhine River happens to be the natural territorial boundary between Germany and France.

Alsace is mainly divided into three parts: Alsace AOC, Alsace Grand Cru AOC and Cremant d’ Alsace. The Alsace appellation was established in 1962 and accounts for about 70% of the region's production, most of which is white wine. The Alsace Grand Cru appellation was established in 1975, with additional Grand Crus added in 1983, 1992 and 2007. Currently, Alsace has 51 Grand Cru vineyards, which only account for 4% of the total production in Alsace.

The Vosges Mountains block the humid air from the northwest ocean belt, making it the driest grape-producing region in France.

Since there is no ocean to regulate the temperature in inland areas, the large temperature difference between day and night is conducive to the growth of white grapes, so the acidity of white grapes is well preserved, so the brewed white wine is round and thick. 90% of Alsace's production is white wine, which is mainly brewed in steel barrels to preserve the floral and fruity aromas.
