Winery

Lou Dumont Winery was founded in 2000 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy, France, by Japanese businessman Koji Nakata and his Korean wife, later moving to Gevrey-Chambertin. Mr. Nakata, who enjoys immense popularity in Japan and is known as the "Godfather of Japanese Burgundy Wines," was born in Okayama, between Hiroshima and Osaka. Originally a sommelier at a French restaurant in Japan, his passion for Burgundy wines led him to leave his high-paying job and travel to Burgundy to learn winemaking and grape cultivation. After more than two decades of hard work, he has finally made a name for himself.
The label of Lou Dumont's Crémant de Bourgogne is probably one of Koji Nakata's most interesting labels. His original design was actually created by piecing together aluminum foil from the bottle necks of various wineries. Remember to appreciate his labels while enjoying your wines.
