Since its birth in the early 1990s, Tenuta Luce has been entrusted with the mission of light, and in just over 20 years it has become a representative winery of Tuscany and a shining star that has conquered the global wine market.

The birth of Magpie Winery is an adventure story about a dream, which begins with two main characters, Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, who is honored as the “Father of American Wine”. The Frescobaldi family, which Vittorio supports, has been rooted in Tuscany for more than 700 years, and it is the family's honor and mission to preserve tradition, listen to the terroir, and pass on the art of winemaking here. Robert Mondavi's ancestors came from Italy, and it has always been the family's desire to return to their homeland and produce world-class Italian wines. In the early 1990's, the two men came together with the same dream to combine their passions and traditions to offer the world amazing wines in Montalcino, Italy, and Magpie Winery was born. The collaboration between these two giants of the wine world has attracted a lot of attention to Magpie and its distinctive winemaking philosophy has attracted a lot of attention. Luce“ means ”light" in Italian, a name derived from Margrit Mondavi, wife of Robert Mondavi. Margrit was inspired by a heavy rainfall when she witnessed a ray of light piercing through the dark clouds, dispersing the darkness and illuminating the earth.

Light drives out darkness and is the source of life, and the symbol of the Château Magpie, a golden sun, carries this meaning. The symbol of the sun, with its 12 flames, originates from the totem of the sun on the altar of the Santo Spirito church in Florence. This sacred symbol has been passed down through the centuries as a symbol of the Tuscan people's belief in and pursuit of light. The birth of a legendary wine is dependent on the light that energizes the grapes and ultimately the wine. Nowadays, the ambitious Luqui winery aspires to be this light and to shine the light of wine in people's hearts.
