Grape Variety: Chardonnay
Tasting Notes: Medium-bodied, silky and dynamic. On the palate, the acidity is crisp and balanced, offering citrus and lemon notes. The mid-palate transitions to a salty-mineral character (similar to sea salt or flint), culminating in a honey-like finish. Overall elegant, with the typical "steel-like" mineral structure of Chablis.
Introduction: Marion Vignaud Chablis is a classic Chardonnay from the Burgundy Chablis appellation in France. Marion Vignaud is a wine professional deeply connected to the Chablis region and a renowned attelage rider. Her family has a long tradition of agriculture and winemaking in the Yonne Valley. Her father, Michel Vignaud, is a well-known Chablis restaurant owner and a passionate equestrian, a passion he has passed on to his daughters.
Marion grew up on horseback, and her sisters are also involved in equestrian activities: her older sister Gaelle focuses on show jumping, while her younger sister Noemie took over the family restaurant. Marion herself combines equestrianism with her wine business, currently handling business and administration at her husband's parents' winery while also managing her own stables part-time. This allows her to seamlessly transition between her professional and amateur pursuits, making her a "star" in the French equestrian world.
Vosgros is a renowned Premier Cru vineyard in the Chablis appellation of northern Burgundy, France, located on the left bank about 2 kilometers south of the town of Chablis. This vineyard is renowned for its Chardonnay grapes, producing classic Chablis white wines that are bright, fresh, and possess a strong mineral character.
The Vosgros vineyard, covering approximately 23 hectares (including its northern sub-vineyard Vaugiraut), forms a natural southwest-facing amphitheater, helping to protect the vineyard from wind damage and maximizing sunlight. Although located in a cool valley, its south and southwest exposure allows the grapes to ripen slowly, resulting in a blend of warm and cool characteristics.
The soil is a type of Chablis limestone soil, with occasional gravel outcrops on the surface and a slightly deeper subsoil, providing excellent drainage and mineral character. This soil imparts a unique minerality and purity to the wines.
