【Mitolo - G.A.M. Shiraz series】
G.A.M. Shiraz is one of the flagship wines of Mitolo Winery. G.A.M. stands for Gemma, Alexander and Marco, the three children of the Mitolo family. The wine is fruity, with flavors of blackcurrant, blueberry, black pepper, cardamom, anise and baking spices, as well as notes of coffee and cocoa beans. Soft tannins. Just the right amount of oak flavors blending together. The wine label is printed with the Latin motto "Honor Nostrum Liverorum Pulchrum." which means "commemorating our family heritage" and echoes the meaning of GAM.

The wine is made from grapes from a single vineyard - Lopresti Home Block Vineyard, located in Willunga and Aldinga, close to the Gulf of St. Vincent. The soil is mainly gray-black Biscay clay, located on the alluvial Engaltinga formation. Sea breezes regulate the heat during the day. Good terroir gives wines good depth and richness.

Purple maroon colour here, with the nose giving us ample evidence of how richly flavoured and truly gorgeous this wine is. It is a plush McLaren Vale Shiraz that is wonderful drinking. We have notes of mocha, coffee beans, blackberries, aniseed and cassis. Ripe and dense with good focus and energy as well as real intensity. Fine, silky tannins and a hint of graphite across the palate. For McLaren Vale, this is about as refined and elegant as we are likely to see. Love it. Juicy acidity and great length round out the package. Enjoy any time over the next fifteen years.

As always, this is generous and enveloping, but there’s freshness and a certain transparency, too. It’s also more savoury than luscious. Black cherry and plum, dried blackberry, anise and black pepper, leather and tar, cacao nibs. Tannins are admirably fine, with acidity cutting a clean path, all in balance with fruit.

The 2021 Shiraz G.A.M. seduces with its unfurling layers of aged meat, blackberry, coriander seed and well-integrated high-quality oak. Vibrant and energetic dark cherry flavors are composed, topped with spicy, floral elements that hold their shape admirably over a lengthy finish. The tannins have a little bite right now but will settle nicely in time.
【James Suckling 92 pts】
Flavorful, composed and driven, offering plums, dried herbs and dried spices on the nose. It's medium-bodied with polished tannins. Refined texture to the juicy, velvety core of dark cherries, a lift of peppercorns adding verve to the finish. Drink or hold.
【Mitolo】

Owner and founder of the winery - Frank Mitolo and his family business ComitFarm are the largest potato and onion packaging and transportation companies in the southern hemisphere. In 1999, Frank Mitolo and his wife Simone Winery founded Mitolo Winery, which is a fairly young Australian winery. Frank Mitolo places special emphasis on the individuality of each grape variety and believes that existing mainstream flavors should be abandoned: to break the stereotype of Australian wine. The style of each wine is direct and obvious. Through the nuances of different vineyard areas, a balanced and complete flavor is produced that is both "Italian deft and restrained" and "Australian rich and full".。
It is worth mentioning that since 2000, Mitolo Winery has cooperated with the famous Australian winemaker Ben Glaetzer to jointly create various Mitolo series. Ben Glaetzer's most popular works include Amon – Ra (Eye of the Blue Bow) Shriaz, Amon – Ra once received a perfect score of 100 from Robert Parker. The wines he manages have always been fruity but not fancy. The wines at Mitolo also have a similar style.

The winery and vineyards are located in McLaren Vale, a complex wine region with a Mediterranean climate, complex soils and varying altitudes, ideal for growing many international varieties as well as many native Italian varieties. Almost all of Mitolo's grapes come from the Sellicks Hill and Aldinga vineyards in the production area. Sellicks Hill has fertile soil and plenty of sunshine. Aldinga is close to the coast and is influenced by the cool sea breezes of the bay. These excellent terroirs give the wine a very rich fruit flavor while retaining good acidity.

In addition to the famous local Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and other international varieties of McLaren Vale, the wines grown in the winery also include native Italian varieties Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Sagrantino. Each wine has received more than 90 points from Robert Parker over the years. The quality is quite guaranteed. Robert Parker described: "For a young winery that was only established in 1999, Midoro is committed to crafting hand-crafted wines that always amaze me and bring me joy every time I taste it." More inspiration. 』
