【酒莊 Winery】

Gauffroy is located in the village of Meursault, within the Cote de Beaune, the first sub-appellation of Burgundy, France.
In the 20th century, Margaret Perrault, wife of Paul Gauffroy, owned several vineyards in Meursault, which were subsequently inherited by her two sons, Paul and Robert. In 1938, Paul began operating the vineyards that exist today. Currently, Paul's son, Marc, manages the vineyards with his wife's assistance. Since 2000, Nicolas, a fourth-generation member of the Gauffroy family, has also been learning management and establishment.
Domaine Gauffroy Marc & Fils' vineyards cover a total area of 7 months, primarily located in Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. The vineyards cultivate Chardonnay and Aligoté grapes, and the wines are aged in oak barrels for at least 18 months, during which slow malolactic fermentation (MLF) takes place, resulting in wines suitable for aging and bottling.
Currently, Domaine Gauffroy Marc & Fils offers 10 wines, including white wines and sparkling wines, such as Bourgogne Aligote, Bourgogne Blanc, and Crémant de Bourgogne Brut.
【產區 Region】
Burgundy is located in eastern France, bordered by the Champagne region to the north and the Rhône Valley to the south. Its geographical environment is exceptionally favorable, with the Saône River flowing through it, creating a fertile valley. Burgundy has a typical continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters, ideal for grape growing.
Approximately 200 million years ago, the Burgundy region was a vast tropical ocean. Time transformed the seabed into limestone soils. These soils are the secret behind the signature vibrant minerality of Burgundy wines. If you walk into the vineyards, you can find blocks of limestone or marl (a mixture of limestone and clay), containing fascinating fossils of marine life. The diverse soils, from limestone to clay to sandstone, provide ideal conditions for growing different grape varieties.
The history of Burgundy wines can be traced back to the Roman era of the 1st century AD, but it was Catholic monks who truly established vineyards in the Middle Ages. They planted grapes for the churches and the nobles and dukes of Burgundy, making significant contributions to winemaking techniques. The French Revolution returned the vineyards to the people. In modern times, Burgundy wines have gained worldwide recognition for their unique style and high quality. The people's deep connection to and pride in their land has inspired the growth of organic and biodynamic viticulture and winemaking.
【有關釀造 Winemaking】
Nicolas Gauffroy is renowned for his meticulous hands-on method and respect for terroir, dedicated to crafting wines that combine the full-bodied character of traditional Messo with modern crispness and vitality.
His strict Lutte Raisonnée method involves near-organic and biodynamic farming practices in the vineyards. He completely avoids the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides, insisting on entirely hand-harvesting to maintain the purity of the soil and grapes.
No artificial yeasts are added, and no chemicals or sulfur are added during the winemaking process, minimizing human intervention to present the purest possible terroir.
The white wines are typically aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months (usually using only about 15% new barrels), during which extremely slow malolactic fermentation (MLF) takes place. They are then transferred to stainless steel tanks for further aging, imparting a full-bodied, silky texture while retaining exceptional vitality and acidity.
