【Northeast Italy - Friuli Region】
The appellation of Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the north-eastern corner of Italy is bordered by Austria to the north and the mountains of Slovenia to the east. The vineyards of Friuli-Venezia Giulia are favoured by the cold mountain winds of the Alps and the warm and humid winds of the Aegean Sea, which are extremely suitable for the growth of grapes. FriuliGrave is a relatively flat terrain with the highest yields in the region, producing mainly fruity, aromatic wines. Most of the wines are bottled from a single varietal, while the more advanced ones are blended to add complexity. In recent years, winemakers have made use of barrel aging. The best wines come from the Collio and Colli Orientali regions, including the thicker, native Tocani Friulano and the more expensive sweet wines made by Picolit. There are also Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Chardonnay imported from abroad.
【Reguta】
Founded in 1928 by Ettore, who passed on his experience to his children and grandchildren, Château Reguta cultivates this land with a great sense of belonging. In this area of the province of Udine, near the Friuli Riviera, the ideal terroir was found, so much so that it is the production area for the premium Friuli DOC wines. Until now, Giuseppe and Luigi Anselmi ran the Reguta winery.
The 250 hectares of vineyards are now planted with two different local grape varieties, such as Refoscodal peduncolo rosso, Fruulano, Pignolo, Ribolla Gialla or Verduzzo, as well as international varieties such as Merlot, Pignolo, Ribolla Gialla or Verduzzo, due to the proximity of the sea and the sea winds that blow through the vineyards. There are also international varieties such as Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery is one of the main producers and bottlers of Friuli-Venezia Giulia Prosecco DOC Spumante.
