ZTJ308_BOX - The Matsui Double Cask Single Malt Whisky(Gift Box)
Price:$650/Bottle
Type:Whisky
Region:Tottori Prefecture, Japan
ABV:43%
Volume:700ml

The attraction of The Matsui Double Cask is what exactly is left behind when the two woods meet: on one side is the calm woody scent of Mizuna, and on the other is the soft floral scent brought by the cherry wood barrel. Go to this Double Cask and you’ll see that it puts the “emphasis on detail” familiar to Japanese brewing culture into its barrel selection. Barrels are no longer just ripening tools, but the most memorable theme of the whole wine
Mizunara barrels have their own distinct place in the world of whiskey, reminiscent of oriental woods, spices and sandalwood tones; cherry blossom barrels bring another softer, floral-associated temperament. When the two personalities are placed in the same wine, the story begins to get interesting: one side is sober woody, one side is light floral, not over who steals the spotlight, but how they complement each other
The wine is alcohol-adjusted with Dashan water source and has an alcohol content of 43%. Its aroma profile has not only cherry blossom-like floral notes, but also fresh lemon zest, sandalwood, and even a hint of cool eucalyptus. Put together, these flavors seem to slowly walk from refreshing into the deeper woodsy world. The entrance is characterized by a silky, slightly oily texture, to the end, warm spicy and woody notes then slowly take over
Distillery

Founded in 1910 in Tottori Prefecture, Japan, Matsui Shuzo boasts a history spanning over a century. The distillery began by producing *shochu*, *nihonshu* (Japanese sake), and other traditional Japanese spirits. It was not until 2015—at the height of the Japanese whisky boom—that Matsui Shuzo officially secured a license to produce whisky. The distillery is located in Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture, a region blessed with lush natural vegetation and pristine, soft, and sweet-tasting spring water flowing from the streams of Mount Daisen. Given that Tottori Prefecture possesses some of the finest water in all of Japan, Matsui Shuzo decided to expand its portfolio by developing a new product line: whisky.
