Domaine Victor Richard is a historic family winery in the Jura region of France, located in the village of Le Vernois, in the heart of the Revermont Mountains. It has been passed down through the Richard family since 1824. It is currently led by Christophe Richard, who joined his parents, Odette and Victor, in 1996 and officially took over in 2007. The winery, which spans 7.3 hectares and employs organic farming methods (certified organic in 2021), focuses on the five traditional Jura grape varieties: Chardonnay and Savagnin for whites, and Pinot Noir, Poulsard, and Trousseau for reds. The winery emphasizes respect for the soil and nature, minimizing the use of pesticides through hand-harvesting, green harvesting, and soil cultivation to showcase the unique Jura terroir.

This Pinot Noir, one of the winery's signature reds, boasts a deep ruby color and soft, fine-grained tannins. It offers a dry, delicate, and fruity finish. With aging, it develops subtle aromas of almond and hazelnut. The aroma is filled with ripe cherry, strawberry, and blackberry fruit, with a gentle wildness and elegance, perfectly embodying Pinot Noir in the unique Jura terroir—lighter than Burgundy, yet with a layer of mountain freshness.

Vineyards in the Jura region are intertwined among forests and grasslands. Four AOC appellations exist: Arbois, Château Chalon, L’Etoile, and Côte de Jura, each with its own distinct character. Although the Jura region is close to the Jura Mountains, the vineyards are not located at very high altitudes. Most vineyards are located between 220 and 450 meters above sea level, comparable to the 250 to 340 meters found in Burgundy's Côte d'Or. The soil is primarily composed of limestone and various shades of marl, both of which contain abundant marine fossils. For example, the limestone in the Arbois region is rich in oyster fossils, resulting in exceptionally mineral wines.
