Vincent began cultivating in 1997 and now proudly owns eight hectares of land spanning the Northern Rhône Valley. Some of it sits perched on precariously steep slopes at the top of hills overlooking the village itself. In fact, the numbers on his Granit cuvées refer to the slope on which they are grown. His wines are unoaked and unfiltered, allowing the natural power of the vines and terroir to speak for itself. A bold move in his 20s, he went beyond expectations of Cornas, striving for freshness and refinement, blending power with elegance and finesse.
Granit cuvées are grown on east-facing granite slopes and are primarily made from destemmed fruit. His renowned La Geynale is one of only two south-facing slopes in Cornas (the other is Reynard), benefiting from a particularly warm microclimate. Made from 100-year-old vines, this cuvée is fermented exclusively with whole bunches; this results in a fragrance that matches its power. All of his Cornas wines are guaranteed to age extensively in the cellar.
The winery's Granit series is graded based on vineyard slopes and average vine age, primarily made from destemmed fruit. Granit 60 comes from rare vines ranging from 60 to 100 years old in Patou, Les Mazards, and Sauman. Soil types range from granite to fine sand and gravel. The vineyards are relatively steep, reaching 60 degrees. A portion of the wine is fermented whole-bunch, highlighting the Cornas terroir. Annual production is approximately 400 cases. The wine displays remarkable concentration and complexity from old vines, with rich fruit aromas like blackberry and blackcurrant intertwined with complex flavors of liquorice, smoke, and grilled meat. The wine is full-bodied with firm tannins, demonstrating remarkable potential for aging.
Paris is renowned for its ability to produce wines with exceptional fruit and intensity, which persists from their youth throughout their extremely long drinking windows. The key here is that Domaine Vincent Paris has always been very moderately priced, so they represent some of the best values in the entire Rhône.

The 2010 Cornas Granite 60 Vieilles Vignes may be the greatest Cornas I have tasted from Vincent Paris. Full-bodied and rich with striking intensity, it possesses gorgeous floral notes intermixed with notions of powdered rock, blue and black fruits, and acacia flowers. Dense, full-bodied, multilayered and multidimensional, this staggeringly great Cornas needs 3-4 years of cellaring and should keep for 25 years thereafter.

Even richer, with more substance and structure, the 2010 Domaine Vincent Paris Cornas Granit 60 is a straight up gorgeous Syrah that offers up riveting notes of black raspberries, crushed violets, charcoal, and searing minerality. More black pepper and gamey notes come out with air, and this has fantastic purity and detail paired with layers of fruit and richness. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with excellent concentration, juicy acidity, and masses of ripe tannin, this powerful, yet elegant Cornas will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age, and drink beautifully for 12-15 years or longer.

Spicy, penetrating and precise, offering deep black raspberry and bitter cherry flavorsthat put on weight in the glass.
