This has very ripe aromas of dark plums and cocoa powder with a sturdy and plush, approachable palate that has a rich, deep and juicy core with sumptuous, vibrant fruit in powerful mode. A blend of 70 per cent merlot and 30 per cent cabernet franc. Try from 2023.

The 2016 Haut Sarpe has a lifted patisserie-tinged bouquet with redcurrant and wild strawberry scents, simple but nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannin, nicely balanced with well judged acidity, a touch of black pepper and cloves emerging towards the generous finish. Drink over the next decade, possibly longer.

Wine Spectator 評價2016年的SAINT EMILION區有94分高分, 係近年份表現出色的年份, 而且係近年無論飲用還是繼續再陳年都非常適合既年份, 2015、2018或者其他年份雖然高分, 但未到適合時候, 可以「drink or hold」既靚年非2016年莫屬。
