The 2021 Sarget de Gruaud Larose was raised in 15% new oak for a planned 15 months. It shows fine lift and commendable precision on a nose of blackberry and briary fruit. The palate is malleable on the entry and well balanced, displaying a touch of black pepper and gentle grip toward the finish. Considering the growing season, this Deuxième Vin deserves a round of applause. Frankly, it's not that far off the quality of the Grand Vin.

Gruaud Larose 金玫瑰城堡坐落於法國波爾多 Saint-Julien 聖朱利安產區的西南部，在波爾多1855分級中被評為二級莊。在金玫瑰城堡的徽標上刻著這樣一句話——“王者之酒，酒中之王”（Le Vin des Rois, Le Roi des Vins），這句話充分顯示人們對金玫瑰葡萄酒的認可。

自1997年至今，酒莊便一直由 Merlaut 家族掌管。這些財力雄厚的家族為金玫瑰城堡帶來了先進的科技設備、合理的管理模式與廣闊的國際市場，使得金玫瑰城堡在尊重傳統和保護環境的同時，釀制出世界一流的葡萄酒。

葡萄園占地面積達82公頃，種有65%的 Cabernet Sauvignon、25%的 Merlot、5%的 Cabernet Sauvignon 和5%的 Petit Verdot，Cab. 的比重較之前有明顯提升。園內擁有排水性佳且排水性良好的礫石層，非常適合 Cab. 的生長，土層有較大的空隙，適合葡萄樹往下紮根。礫石層下層為石灰質黏土和沙質土壤，為葡萄提供需要的養分，同時賦予了葡萄酒較高的單寧。園內種植密度為每公頃10,000株葡萄樹，平均樹齡為46年，其中 Cab. 老藤的樹齡可達80年以上。在葡萄園管理方面，酒莊秉承尊重自然的原則，主張有機種植與生物動力法。

副牌酒名 Sarget de Gruaud Larose 是來自 Baron Sarget 先生。Baron Sarget 先生在19世紀，正是 Gruaud Larose 的其中一位 Owner。與正牌酒除釀酒葡萄的樹齡差別外，釀造方法並無任何差別，所以此副牌酒盡得正牌酒精髓。用上樹齡25-30年的葡萄，經採收後，會在木桶以及水泥鋼進行20-30日的溫控發酵，酒莊會使用淋皮法來萃取葡萄中更多的顏色以及單寧，再被導入法國橡木桶陳熟15個月(當中15%為新桶)以增加其複雜度。
