History

The history of Château Talbot is rich. On the plateau of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, you can see Château Talbot from distance. It has the name of Connetable Talbot, famous English warrior. In 1855, during the classification of the Medoc and Graves vineyards commissioned by Emperor Napoleon III, Château Talbot was promoted to the fourth cru classe of Saint-Julien. The estate was acquired in 1917 by Desire Cordier, then his son Georges and his grandson Jean succeeded him. Under their leadership, Château Talbot became one of Bordeaux’s most famous vintages. Today the property is managed by Nancy Bignon-Cordier, assisted by Jean-Pierre Marty. Connetable de Talbot is the second wine of the property.

Terroir & Vinification

The terroir of Château Talbot covers 107 hectares of vines in cultivation in the municipality of Saint-Julien. Ideally located on the edge of the Gironde estuary, its terroir is exceptional. The management of the vineyard is one of the most precise of the Medoc. The grape harvests are entirely manual and the methods of vinification and aging are adapted to the different styles of grapes. Connetable de Talbot benefited of all the care lavished on the vineyard and from a more and more severe selection.
