Evolutionary History of Bourgeois

Bourgeois in Cru Bourgeois means "middle class", which is also the origin of the original translation of "middle class winery". The "Bourgeois Bourgeoisie" began in 1932, led by the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Gironde Agricultural Committee, and 444 wineries were selected. In 1962, the Alliance des Crus Bourgeois du Medoc (Medoc Bourgeois Alliance) was established, and has since been responsible for the maintenance and re-evaluation of the Crus Bourgeois system.
