【Chateau Beaumont 寳旺酒莊】

A lovely sense of balance and well-integrated tannins evenat this early age. Matured in 30% new oak. A former Cru Bourgeois Superieur inthe 2003 ranking, with a deservedly good reputation. The 2016 Beaumont has quite a powerfulbouquet with dense black fruit, boysenberry and cedar,traces of pencil leaddeveloping with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quitespicy compared to its peers, then it reins everything back in for what is arefined finish. Classy stuff, but I would afford this a couple of years inbottle. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.

The 2016 Beaumont, owned by Suntory andCastel, has a rather conservative bouquet, a little backward and surly comparedto its peers with undergrowth aromas coming through with aeration. The palateis medium-bodied with supple tannin, quite lithe and agile in the mouth, a winewilling to go out and please and not worry too much about cellaring. Whilst itdoes not quite have the complexity of the 2015, it is still a mouthful ofpotentially delicious wine.
