The 2018 Gran Reserva Marqués de Riscal is a blendof 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano, sourced from RiojaAlavesa. Displaying agarnet hue, the balsamic nose also features vanilla and cedar notes,accompanied byblackberry and herbal hints. Dry, juicy and bold on the palate,the fine-grained reactive tannins add texture to aclingy mouthfeel.

超過160 年歷史的Marques de Riscal 是 Rioja 最古老的酒莊，到現在也是由同一家族擁有令 Hurtado deAmézaga同時是 Rioja 最古老的家族，史上第一枝 Rioja 就是由 Marques deRiscal 在1862 年裝瓶。出產幾年後已獲獎無數，更在 1895 年成為第一枝非法國酒贏得波爾多世界博覽會的最高榮譽獎 Diploma of Honor，從一開始已是頂級的 Rioja 傳奇酒莊。
Marqués de Riscal 是第一間把法國頂級技術和葡萄帶入 Rioja，並且加以證明的經典。Marqués de Riscal這名字原本是西班牙一個世襲的貴族頭銜，一開始是曾任馬拉加總督的中將Baltasar Hurtado de Amézaga因在職務和戰役中表現出色而被腓力五世授予的。1858年第五代的 D.Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga成立了幾間酒莊，但一般認為第六代的兒子Camilo Hurtado de Amézaga才是一大推手，當初他在 Bordeaux 讀書後定居時，被西班牙省政府委託去請一個釀酒師回Rioja 去教當地人法國波爾多的釀酒工藝，所以他當時就請了Château Lanessan 的Jean Pineau，同時引入包括Cabernet Sauvignon、Merlot、Malbec 和 Pinot Noir的 9000 株法國葡萄樹。相信 Camilo 就是在 JeanPineau 與葡萄農的合作結束之後，在1858 年繼承了父親Guillermo 的酒莊，請來了Jean Pineau，將酒莊名為Herederos del Marquésde Riscal（Herederos解作繼承人）。
這間現時擁有多達 900 公頃葡萄園，540 公頃在 Rioja，350 公頃在 Rueda，致力轉行有機種植，認為能令葡萄樹在現時氣候變化的環境下有更強適應力，也帶出更健康的新陳代謝和更複雜的根系，令成品更如實地反映風土，質素也更高。當中 Rueda 的葡萄園全獲有機認證，Rioja 也有 370 公頃獲認證，是 Rioja Alavesa 最大的有機酒莊，佔了 Alavesa 25% 的有機葡萄園。
在這樣的配置下Marques de Riscal 同時追求健康老藤的持續性，在Alavesa 已經擁有超過500 公頃的老藤，是Rioja 中擁有最多老藤的酒莊，更專誠請來意大利的專業團隊來實行對葡萄藤更好的最新型修剪法Simonit and Sirch。使用天然酵母和較少的二氧化硫令酒的香氣進一步地顯得純正、外發和複雜令 Marques de Riscal 近年更錦上添花，連續 3 年獲選世界最好葡萄園和最好酒莊的第 2 位。全因現在已是 Rioja 旅遊地標的酒莊建築 "Cityof Wine"。這個現代化的標誌酒莊在2006 年由有"建築界畢加索"之稱的當代最重要建築師 Frank O.Gehry 設計完工。
